The Community Redevelopment Agency is preparing to distribute money to 22 businesses for equipment and facility upgrades. The program is designed to help local businesses take on improvements that can otherwise be expensive.
Back in 2024, Kena Bwembya, the Owner of Bwembya’s Market, received a CRA grant to help make improvements to her business. She said the funding allowed her business to make changes that would have been harder to do on her own.
“I think it’s awesome that the city and the CRA are working towards letting the businesses thrive in such a way that maybe they haven’t been able to do in previous years. Their hope is crucial. I really hope they understand how helpful and appreciative it is when they reach out like this,” Bwembya said.
The CRA is also working on home improvement projects, with several contractors already completing work.
