A major redevelopment effort is taking shape in Downtown Tampa, where plans are moving forward to bring approximately 1,150 new residential units to the area—about 70% of which will be designated as affordable and workforce housing. The project aims to transform underutilized land into a connected, mixed-use community with housing, retail, and public spaces.
The Tampa CRA is a key partner in this initiative, working alongside the City of Tampa and development teams to reposition strategically located properties for long-term community benefit. By leveraging publicly owned land and fostering public-private partnerships, the CRA is helping address critical housing needs while enhancing connectivity in the urban core.
Once realized, the project will represent one of the first large-scale affordable housing developments within Tampa’s Central Business District—creating new opportunities for residents to live closer to jobs, services, and transit while strengthening the overall fabric of downtown.
