“Take 5” – 5 Questions with Antranette Forbes – City of Apopka, Economic Development Director
FRA Board of Directors

Q: What is your best piece of business advice for a new FRA member?

Antranette: Get invested early and often. The Florida Redevelopment Association isn’t just a membership—it’s a network, a brain trust, and occasionally a support group. The more you engage, the more doors (and ideas) open.

Q: If you had a superpower, what would it be and why?

Antranette: A photographic memory. It would make absorbing complex policies, names, and details effortless—and save me from ever asking, “Can you remind me of that again?” Plus, it’s the closest thing to having a built-in strategic database.

Q: We are going out for dinner/entertainment in your CRA District. Where are we going and why?

Antranette: We’re heading straight to Halls on 5th in Apopka. It’s our first food hall, set inside a beautifully repurposed 1928 feed store, so you get history, energy, and great food all in one place. It’s basically redevelopment you can taste.

Q: What do you hope to be remembered for?

Antranette: For getting things done—full stop. Ideas are great, but results are better. If progress had a résumé, I’d want my name on it.

Q: What is the most exciting part of being in redevelopment?

Antranette: The creativity. I love testing bold solutions to solve long-standing challenges—it’s like civic problem-solving meets innovation lab. Every project is a chance to rewrite a community’s next chapter.
