The Pensacola City Council voted Thursday night to approve the much-publicized “Reimagine Palafox” project.

The project passed with a 5-2 vote.

The council met for a “Community Redevelopment Agency” meeting earlier this week. Members voted 5-2 to approve $10.7 million for the project.

Approximately $7 million is coming from CRA funds, while approximately $3 million is coming from Florida Power & Light.

“For the folks questioning, ‘Did we look at this? Did we price that? Could we have value-engineered this?’ The answer is yes,” Mayor DC Reeves said earlier this week. “We did that over years of time with public feedback throughout the summer as well. I’m fully confident this is something that we need for the city.”
