The Avon Park Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board unanimously approved the design for gateway signage at its Monday night meeting. This design would be for two signs along U.S. 27, replacing the current ones.
The identical designs of the signs would include a sketch of the downtown bandstand at the top, around it “EST. 1886” in black lettering, then “Avon Park” in red lettering, and at the very bottom “City of Charm.” All of this would be on a white background.
CRA Economic Development Manager Jessica Carlson had been gathering feedback from the community since the CRA workshops in July. The signage addressed Avon Park’s branding.
“It all comes down to your opinion at this point,” Carlson said. “I’m just giving you the background and research of what I have taken in and learned. I know a lot of people have shared that and talked about it. We want it to be something that represents the city as a whole and gets people excited about the future of Avon Park.”
