The decades-old Festival of the Arts is being rebranded this year as Art Stroll, a juried exhibit on Feb. 17 and 18 on Ocean Way. The show is being held in conjunction with Pioneer Days in a well-defined area between Southeast 2 and Southeast 4 streets with space for 40 artists and food and drink vendors.
Two dozen artists have already reserved booths. And in a departure from previous years, en plein artists will be at their easels along the beach boardwalk. And a body artist, instead of a kids’ face painter, will decorate the faces of adults.
Former Deerfield Beach High School Art Director Victoria Engelhart is once again assembling a team of judges who will award $2,000 in prize money to the artists. “I love judging this festival, not only for the beach venue but for the diversity and beauty of the creative minds that participate and share their interior worlds with us,” she said.
Proceeds from Art Stroll will benefit the Deerfield Beach Historical Society. The Community Redevelopment Agency is a major sponsor with a $2,500 donation coming from its public art budget. Additional sponsorships are available.
