An aquatic center being developed in Niceville could have a $235 million impact on the local economy and create more than 450 jobs, according to a report presented to the Niceville Community Redevelopment Agency.
The CRA on Tuesday heard the economic impact report for the potential aquatic center, which would be a 50-meter, Olympic-sized pool. In a 23-minute presentation, Charlie Perham, a consultant with Matrix Design Solutions, told board members that the center could bring outstanding results to the community.
Perham said that by 2035, an economic impact of $235 million could be added to the Okaloosa County economy. He said there is potential for 457 jobs created by the facility’s construction and day-to-day operations. He said that hospitality and service industries could also see job boosts with the increase of tourists to the area.
