Employer to Add 700 Jobs in Broward Over 3 Years Ultilizing the Brownfield Bonus Refund Program
Saveology.com, an Internet company offering daily deals and comparison-shopping websites, plans to add 700 new jobs in Broward County over the next three years.
The company will move its existing 550-job operation from Fort Lauderdale to Margate and add the 700 new jobs in that new location. It will get a roughly $2 million incentive package offered by the city and state, once it meets the job commitments.
Florida beat out New Jersey for the new jobs, according to economic development officials from the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, which announced the expansion at their annual meeting late Thursday.
About 100 positions are corporate headquarters jobs, including technology and executive posts, with average wages topping $62,000 a year. The other 600 positions are mainly for service agents who will handle incoming customer calls for websites, with average wages greater than $35,000 a year, according to David Coddington, vice president for business development at the Alliance.
