Under the leadership of the Southeast Overtown/Park West CRA Board Chairman Keon Hardemon and the CRA board, the SEOPW CRA has partnered with the City of Miami Department of Housing & Community Development to construct a Twin Homes affordable homeownership project to be located at 1900 NW 2nd Court, Miami, FL 33136.
On May 16, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., there will be a groundbreaking ceremony to commence the construction of the project. The Twin Homes will address the shortage of affordable housing in Overtown. A recent study shows Miami is one of the least affordable large metro areas in the United States. The homes being constructed are each 3-bedroom/2.5 bath two-story single family homes, totaling 4,083 square feet, and will cost $750,000 to construct. The project is specifically geared towards low and moderate income families. “One of my goals as the Executive Director of the CRA is to transition Overtown from a multi-family rental community to a multi-family homeownership community. You are a formidable stakeholder when you are a homeowner,” says Neil Shiver, SEOPW CRA Executive Director.
