There are currently 178 Community Redevelopment Areas in the State of Florida. When it comes to improving your Community Redevelopment Area, it is important to take the time to get more involved or collaborate with your fellow Community Redevelopment Agencies. There are multiple ways your CRA can do so:
- Attending relevant association meetings and annual conferences
- Hosting or attending luncheons or monthly events
- Speaking or presenting at meetings or conferences
- Exhibiting during relevant conferences
Starting an open dialogue with other CRAs and decision makers is a great way to form new connections while showcasing recent community efforts and brainstorming future efforts taking place throughout Florida. Below are tips and tricks for any CRA looking to get involved.
Find Relevant Associations:
Use the internet as a tool to search for relevant associations that you could reach out to or monitor for upcoming meetings and annual conferences. FRA is a great resource when looking to find upcoming events or finding other CRA websites, newsletters and web pages. Florida Construction News is an example of a relevant resource for current redevelopment news, as well as association and group listings.
Stay in the Loop:
Staying current on news and upcoming events is an important step towards getting more involved. Sign up for weekly or monthly e-newsletters to ensure that you’re aware of the latest events taking place. Following or “Liking” different Florida CRA pages on all social media platforms is a great way to not only stay current, but to also start conversations and form new redevelopment ideas.
Join or Participate in Events:
Once you are aware of an event taking place near you, reach out to the contact person listed for the event to see how you can join in on the conversation and participate. Having a presentation ready and at hand for when an opportunity presents itself will make reaching out and planning for the event that much easier.
Start getting involved now! While it is important to follow our tips above, one way you can start is by attending the FRA Annual Conference. The conference takes place in Orlando on October 12-14, 2016. Registration can be found here.
