The opening of the new $3.4 million Coral Springs Museum of Art at the Cornerstone development has been pushed back to October, with a public grand opening now scheduled for Oct. 9, according to new details released by the city last week.

And when the museum opens, Pablo Picasso will be one of the main attractions.

“Picasso: A Graphic Journey” will feature 57 original prints created by Picasso between 1923 and 1972, including etchings, lithographs, linocuts and a rare copper printing plate.

The project is being funded with about $2 million from the city’s capital budget, $1 million from the Community Redevelopment Agency’s capital fund and about $500,000 in landlord and tenant allowances from the property owner.

The CRA will also pay $179,300 annually toward the museum’s lease, with that amount increasing 3 percent each year through 2032.
