Permit Technician – Planning & Development/Building Department
Reports to: Building Official

JOB SUMMARY:
This position performs a wide variety of office duties including receptionist, typing,
Filing and issuing of permits under the direction of the Building Official.
The position processes applications for Building and Zoning permits, prepares board
agendas and minutes, assists contractors and the public, and ensures compliance with
permitting policies and procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
The person filling this position must have a good understanding of customer service
philosophy and procedures and the ability to be persuasive with citizens, keeping
“customer satisfaction” as a guiding factor. A minimum of three years prior corporate or
governmental office experience as an administrative assistant or higher is requires.
Strong financial skills and the ability to become a Notary Public are required.

EDUCATION:
At a minimum, an associate’s degree in a related field is desired. High School
graduate/equivalent, supplemented by experience in construction administration,
permitting, licensing, or related fields will be considered. Experience with basic
computer operations and database computer programs desired.
Must possess and maintain a Florida driver’s license.
