Clearwater Gardens is now open, bringing 81 new affordable housing units to downtown Clearwater for residents earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income. Built on a formerly underused site, the development is already nearly fully occupied and offers a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, along with amenities like a fitness center, community spaces, and sustainable features such as rooftop solar panels.
The Clearwater CRA played a central role in making the project possible, issuing the original request for proposals and helping finance the development through a deferred loan and mortgage support. By partnering with the developer and leveraging additional state and local housing resources, the CRA helped turn a vacant property into much-needed housing. This project highlights how the Clearwater CRA continues to support practical, community-focused redevelopment that expands housing options and strengthens downtown.
