Construction is officially underway to transform the former Robinson Grocery Store in Tallahassee’s Bond neighborhood into a long-anticipated community resource center. After years of uncertainty, the project marks a major step forward in preserving a site deeply rooted in local history while creating a space designed to serve residents for generations to come.

The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has been instrumental in moving this project forward, working alongside city leaders to secure funding and bring the community’s vision to life. With more than $800,000 committed, including significant CRA investment and matching funds, this effort reflects a strong commitment to honoring the neighborhood’s cultural legacy while addressing present-day needs.

Driven by community advocacy, the future center is envisioned as a hub for resources, connection, and opportunity, particularly in an area identified as a food desert. What was once at risk of demolition is now being reimagined as a positive, community-centered space—demonstrating the impact of collaboration, preservation, and thoughtful redevelopment.
