The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA) marked a significant milestone in the transformation of Boynton Beach Boulevard with the commencement of the demolition of the former Inn at Boynton Beach on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

The press-only groundbreaking ceremony, coined, “The Inn is OUT,” commemorated the clearing of the 2.11-acre property, which is prominently located at the intersection of Boynton Beach Boulevard and I-95—one of the City’s most visible gateways. The site is adjacent to the Florida Department of Transportation’s ongoing I-95 interchange improvement project, further underscoring the area’s strategic importance.

All members of the Boynton Beach City Commission were in attendance, including Mayor Rebecca Shelton, Vice Mayor Woodrow L. Hay (District II), Angela Cruz (District I), Thomas Turkin (District III), and Aimee Kelley (District IV), demonstrating unified leadership and support for the redevelopment of this key corridor.

The BBCRA acquired the property on October 1, 2025, for $8.1 million as part of its long-term strategy to encourage catalytic redevelopment along Boynton Beach’s primary east–west corridor. Following a thorough evaluation of the existing structure, demolition was identified as the necessary first step to prepare the site for future redevelopment opportunities.

To support this effort, the BBCRA was awarded $75,000 through the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County’s Blighted and Distressed Property Clean-Up Grant Program, helping offset demolition costs and accelerate progress. Clearing the site sets the stage for attracting private investment and advancing a thriving, modern urban environment.

The property lies within the Boynton Beach Boulevard District, a critical gateway to the Downtown core. Its redevelopment will play an important role in creating a more welcoming, accessible, and vibrant corridor that aligns with both the BBCRA’s vision and the City of Boynton Beach’s Master Plan, which emphasizes strategic corridor investments, enhanced mobility, and high-quality urban design.

The BBCRA will continue to provide updates as redevelopment plans move forward, marking another important step toward a more vibrant and beautiful Boynton Beach.
