Authentic Bahamian conch salad, conch fritters, pigeon peas and rice, and collards are among the delectable dishes the Higgs family will be serving up at their Big Daddy Conch Restaurant and Grill in Collier City.
At the Nov. 18 Pompano Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting, the CRA Board welcomed the family-owned business with the aim to help transform troubled Northwest 27 Avenue.
The scope of work includes security cameras, brick pavers and landscaping, additional parking, perimeter fencing, signage, patio roof structure, exterior restrooms, storage, and a dumpster enclosure.
CRA Project Manager Evan Comejo said the family’s total investment in the property interior and exterior upgrade is $185,000. The applicant’s goal is to have renovations complete by January 2026. District 5 Commissioner Darlene Smith, who represents Collier City, said she is “so excited you are coming to Collier City.” She called the outdoor patio “a beautiful location.”
