Just one year ago arts and entertainment destination SoMo Walls’ anchor tenant The Monroe opened its doors.
Its official introduction into the capital city on Aug. 2, 2024 brought in a wave of excitement as well as stark criticism.
Despite some backlash surrounding the project’s funding, including a controversial “recoverable grant” that will be back paid in 2027 and its redevelopment efforts, many would agree it attracted people from far and wide to see the new attraction for themselves.
The upscale eateries’ debut year is one developer Bugra Demirel described as “incredible,” exceeding the team’s expectations of what impact the restaurant would have on the community and how well it would be received.
