Mayor Jane Castor announced the start of new renovations at Herman Massey Park in downtown Tampa.
The park’s renovation will be funded by the Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency with a budget of $2 million, according to a press release.
The upgrades will include a new raised deck with moveable furniture, electric and plumbing, artificial turf and other durable surfaces in the dog park, and a sculpture by Cuban-born artist Alexandre Arrechea.
The renovations started in early November and will be completed by Fall 2025.
“Downtown Tampa gets more appealing and exciting every day, and we are thrilled to invest in these improvements to make the neighborhood even more appealing to residents and visitors, human and canine alike,” said Tampa City Council member Gwendolyn Henderson.
