Groundbreaking Ceremony Announced for El Camino Project in Martin County’s Golden Gate CRA!
The Golden Gate neighborhood is preparing for a major transformation as El Camino breaks ground on Thursday, November 14. A community celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., marking the start of construction on this exciting new project that will connect Indian Street to Jefferson Street.
Led by the Martin County Community Redevelopment Agency, El Camino will become a key feature of the Golden Gate neighborhood, offering a scenic walking and biking path, fitness area, earth mounds for adventure, a picnic space, and a renovated soccer field. The project is designed to enhance outdoor recreation and foster connections within the community.
“I strongly believe that this project will be game-changing for this community. It checks so many redevelopment boxes – safety, connection, wellness, open space – and most importantly, pride and ownership of residents for their community,” said Susan Kores, director of the Martin County Community Redevelopment Agency. “We are excited to bring this first of its kind project to Martin County!”
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the future site through interactive informational signage placed throughout. Each sign will offer details about the various amenities, giving residents a preview of how it will enhance the neighborhood’s outdoor spaces.
The event is free and open to the public, and residents are encouraged to explore the site and learn about the project.
