The DeFuniak Springs Amphitheater sits right on the edge of Lake DeFuniak in Chipley Park.
It is the hub for activity in downtown DeFuniak Springs. The venue hosts concerts, plays, holiday events, and the annual LakeFest festival.
But the Community Redevelopment Agency says it needs modernization to improve its functionality.
“We do everything here to improve the quality of life for our citizens and the people who wish to move here,” DeFuniak Springs City Manager Koby Townsend said.
The project is still in the preliminary stage and needs to be approved by the Walton County Commission, and requires public input.
“This is something that would continue to receive public input along the way. Public workshops with conceptual designs would certainly be part of this project if it were to move forward,” Community Redevelopment Agency Executive Director Josh Ervin said.
