As construction is close to completion on the first phase of Bruce Beach, Pensacola is looking to begin the second phase of the project if the City Council agrees to transfer $1.8 million in Community Redevelopment Agency funds to the project.
Transferring that money would require using approximately $859,278 that is budgeted for a streetscape project for A Street that city staff recommends should be discontinued, according to a city summary provided to the City Council.
Pensacola city officials declined to comment on the proposal ahead of the CRA meeting on Monday but allowed a News Journal photographer to tour the current phase one construction site.
