WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – To celebrate its first anniversary in historic downtown Winter Garden, the owner of Writer’s Block Bookstore donated a Little Free Library to the community to provide an opportunity to share books and encourage reading. The Little Free Library is located at 207 W. Plant St. in front of the Post Office.
“I felt that donating a library to the City of Winter Garden would be a good way to show my appreciation to the City and community while marking our one year anniversary. We look forward to continuing to partner with the community to bring the magic of a bookstore to families and become a staple in the community,” said Lauren Zimmerman, owner of Writer’s Block Bookstore.
The Little Free Library is a free book-sharing box that is open 24/7 for residents and visitors to take or leave books. It is not required to leave a book in order to take one. Donated books should be appropriate for all ages, with an emphasis on kid-friendly topics.
Downtown’s Little Free Library is a registered unit of the worldwide network of more than 100,000 Little Free Libraries. Little Free Library is a non-profit organization that serves as a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a global network of volunteer-led Little Free Libraries. “These Little Libraries are springing up everywhere, and it is exciting to have one in downtown Winter Garden for the community to share books. This just adds to the charm of downtown,” said Tanja Gerhartz, City of Winter Garden Economic Development Director.
Writer’s Block Bookstore, located at 32 W. Plant St. in downtown Winter Garden, is a full-service independent bookstore specializing in new books of all genres as well as gift items.
