Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Monday that the Florida legislature will fund $10 million toward hundreds of families to rebuild or purchase homes in the Panhandle following the disaster of 2018′s Category 5 Hurricane Michael.
The Florida Housing Finance Corporation will relaunch, for the second year, its Hurricane Michael recovery loan program. The program is to provide financial assistance to affected residents who make up 140% of the area’s median income with zero interest loans up to $15,000, DeSantis said.
Expected to launch Sept. 1, the program is estimated to help 660 families in purchasing homes, though the loan may be used for buying or rebuilding, said DeSantis, speaking in Panama City.
