Awesome.
That was the word which came to mind when I read Times-Union Editorial Page Editor Mike Clark’s December 2017 column about a network of gondolas connecting the Northbank and Southbank. Last week, the Financial News and Daily Record reported that local developer Mike Balanky had identified a route from Kings Avenue to TIAA Bank Field — and that he had given the elevated cable car system over the St. Johns River a name: the “Jag-Wire.”
I don’t know if Balanky’s plan will succeed, though I wouldn’t bet against him given his long record of development expertise. But I do know that dreams like his are how great downtowns are built. When Jacksonville achieves its Downtown revitalization goals, it will be because urban core advocates allowed themselves to dream big and persevered until those dreams were achieved
