WINTER HAVEN — The city is hoping that replacing outdated zoning regulations will boost home sales and encourage development.
“I think the vision is how you revitalize and how you infuse growth into these particular areas,” Assistant City Manager T. Michael Stavres said.
Proposed is changing land use regulations for office professional, multi-family and single-family home districts. The city’s Planning Commission has already approved the changes for office professional and multi-family home districts; they’re just hoping the City Commission does likewise.
“It only takes a few projects and it can really take off and revitalize the whole area,” said Merle Bishop, the city’s growth management director. “That’s what we’re hoping for. We think we can sell some of these properties.”
