Whether it’s Slidr or The Free Ride, two free transit services made a pitch to get in on the game in downtown Boca Raton.
Once the free Downtowner electric cart service left, the city put out feelers for a replacement so diners and shoppers could get around without a car.
“One of our own residents has started one,” Councilman Jeremy Rodgers said at the June 12 Community Redevelopment Agency meeting, introducing Mike Trombino. He started Slidr in Asheville, N.C. and Naples and is about to expand into Columbia, S.C., he told Boca Raton City Council.
