Residents in Malone will be receiving water in a more a dependable and sustainable way. The town was funded more than $270,000 from the Northwest Florida Water Management District in December 2015 for new water main lines. Now they’ll be able to see those funds come to fruition. That money is channeled into installing the lines from 11th to 7th Streets at the intersection of 9th Avenue. “It’s a bigger line, it’s a stronger line. We’ll know exactly how far down to the ground it is, so it’s just going to be – I wish we could do the whole town like that,” said Malone Mayor Gene Wright. Crews are now capable of locating the water main thanks to what’s called tracer wire. “When you have water lines that are thirty and forty years old, and you have older maps you tend to lose some locations or something might not be where this might be, we’ll know exactly where this line is,” said Wright.
