PORT ORANGE – Do you think the city police department should get more funding? How about the city parks? Or maybe you would suggest City Council members get a raise … or not. City officials are reaching out to residents for their input on planning the city’s budget for the coming year. For the second consecutive year, the city’s website will host an online budget simulator. Staff intend to use the interactive tool to provide City Council with input from those who live in the city, according to Deputy City Manager Alan Rosen. Instructions on the site state the calculator helps “decide on a new budget for each department,” and each dollar allocated represents a percentage of the city’s actual budget. It can be found on the City’s website at: www.port-orange.org/budgetsimulator and will be available through July 15.
