PORT ORANGE — The city is expected to come into $1.3 million from a pending land sale, and council members seemed to lean toward the Riverwalk project when asked where they think that windfall should be directed.
The city recently entered into a contract to sell a chunk of its land located behind the Lowe’s Home Improvement center to Panama City-based Sage Development Group. Senior Vice President Harry Patel said in a letter to the city that he intends to build a three-story, 90,000-square-foot assisted living facility at 3875 Yorktowne Blvd., adding that he expects the project investment to total around $18 million and add at least 70 jobs to the area.
The company owns a facility in Panama City Beach and another is under construction on Fleming Island, just south of Jacksonville and north of Green Cove Springs.
