DAYTONA BEACH — The most expensive private beachside development in the city’s history is planning to break ground this spring.
The key players behind the Daytona Beach Convention Hotel & Condominiums, a $130 million project located at the eastern tip of Oakridge Boulevard, say they just need to go through the final steps of securing a building permit for a parking garage before they can start turning dirt.
They expect to have that permit within four to six weeks and get to work on the site in April or May.
A little over a year from now, the dusty, barren hotel and condo site that’s spread across three corners of the intersection of Oakridge and State Road A1A is slated to have its first phase completed. That will include a 517-space parking garage, and upgrades to much of the underground utility network.
