DAYTONA BEACH – Throughout the month of November, local restaurants from Oak Hill to Ormond Beach donated a portion of sales to Food Brings Hope to raise awareness for the unique businesses and restaurants along the US-1 corridor.
Restaurant owners and city officials were welcomed to the Food Brings Hope office for a check presentation. Penny Cruz, Port Orange city planner, helped strengthen community support for the Rediscover US-1 campaign.
“This was the second event organized by the Rediscover US-1 planning committee,” she said. “It was exciting to put this together in time for the holiday season. We knew it would be a nice opportunity to promote our local eateries and donate to a food-based charity. We are happy that the funds raised will be used to help eradicate hunger throughout Volusia County. It was nice to see all of our cities working together.”
