Saving nearly $50,000 in impact fee waivers has allowed Benjamin Moseley and his business partner Anita Valdez the opportunity to redeveloped four previously vacant downtown Leesburg sites, including Sip, a jazz and blues restaurant lounge with food, wine, and live entertainment that draws crowds to 707 W. Main St.
“This is a great town,” said Moseley, 59. “Waiving the fees not only allowed us to put a restaurant in here, but it added 22 jobs downtown, just for Sip.”
He’s pleased Leesburg city leaders voted to extend the impact fee waiver for water, wastewater and municipal services through Sept. 30, 2016, to encourage the redevelopment of existing, abandoned structures throughout the city, which in turn stimulates the local economy with new businesses and jobs.
