AVON PARK – Melissa Hayes is so confident about the future of downtown Avon Park business growth, she literally sealed its future.
Hayes, executive director of the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce, spent about three weeks on her own putting down and adhering new floor paneling in the chamber office, 28 E. Main St.
During her workday Wednesday, Hayes — in her third month with the chamber — has been busily upgrading the chamber offices with new flooring and helping to clean out offices for new tenants. She said it’s part of bringing what she sees as new life into the Main Street corridor and surrounding area.
Over the past 10 months, new business has flowed into Avon Park while ones now in their second and third years of business have remained solid. Businesses that have opened since July when they were just getting founded are now tending to customers.
