City officials and business leaders are optimistic that good things are coming to downtown Leesburg.
More bistro-type restaurants, boutiques, sidewalk cafes and a little park with benches could be popping up on West Main Street as a result of the $3.8 million Streetscape Beautification Project that was unveiled Friday.
“It has set a buzz in the community,” said Leesburg Economic Development Director Michael Rankin. “It also enhances and encourages private development investment in that area as well. We see the opportunity to enhance the service and retail corridor along Main Street.”
Commercial real estate agent Tom Grizzard, of ERA Grizzard Real Estate, agrees.
“I think it is a great investment in the continuing revitalization of our community,” he said. “I believe as the project neared completion, the new streetscape helped me sell the old Leesburg Tire and Battery to a new business that plans to rehab the building and bring new businesses.”
