BRADENTON — Four parcels near Ware’s Creek are ready for potential redevelopment, city officials say.
The Ballard Park Infill Project, around the intersection of Eighth Avenue West and 17th Street Court West and Ballard Park Drive and Ninth Avenue West, went through months of public meetings.
Progress was made recently with the demolition of old structures termed drug dens and rented by “the most notorious slumlords around,” according to Ward 3 Councilman Patrick Roff.
In April, the last home to come down was an abandoned structure dubbed the “White House,” thought to have historical significance, which was never proven through documentation.
On Wednesday, the Bradenton City Council reviewed appraised land values for properties on eight lots in preparation for the release of a letter of intent to gauge developer interest.
The so-called White House parcel, 1630 Eighth Ave. W., contains enough space for two lots worth $100,000 apiece on Ware’s Creek.
