INVERNESS — It’s not just county officials giving the Inverness City Council a hard time about its plans to expand the community redevelopment area (CRA) district.
About 20 residents of a neighborhood off Vine Street, near a mobile home park and an orange grove, asked the council at a meeting Tuesday evening to exclude their neighborhood from the expanded CRA district.
Those residents said they don’t appreciate the city referring to their community as “blight,” a designation that is required for the city to expand the CRA.
And they expressed fear that the city’s long-range goal is to force residents from their modest homes for development that would increase property values along Big Lake Henderson near Liberty Park.
