BOCA RATON — Downtown Boca Raton’s first hotel is going to rise higher than most of Boca’s buildings, the City Council decided Monday.
The 12-story Hyatt Place Hotel Boca Raton is expected to break ground in March.
Councilwoman Constance Scott called the 200-room hotel the missing piece of the downtown puzzle.
“I am very excited for this to pass,” Scott said.
The City Council, meeting as the Community Redevelopment Agency, agreed unanimously to a developer’s proposal that the building at the southeast corner of Palmetto Park Road and Federal Highway be allowed to rise 40 feet more than the standard building height in Boca’s downtown.
