Plant City Downtown GardenFest may be the best ever, organizer says
PLANT CITY – Barbara Wansley was among the many people who spent part of a sunny day in downtown for an annual event featuring gardening, arts and crafts and more.
“I just moved back (to Plant City) after 30 years,” said Wansley, who likes to garden and shopped for plants.
The Plant City native, who moved home from Knoxville, Tenn., said she was pleased with the selection at the fourth annual GardenFest and More.
The festival, sponsored by the Plant City Garden Club and Downtown Business and Merchants Association, helped lure plenty of visitors downtown, association President Darcy Stottlemyer said.
“I think it was maybe the best one ever,” said Stottlemyer, a floral shop owner and Garden Club member.
There was no admission fee so the festival doesn’t have a way to gauge specific attendance, but vendors seemed to agree that sales were up, she said.
