Boynton CRA may enter lawsuit over unpaid invoice
The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency may be heading to court to battle against a familiar face.
On Tuesday, the CRA board unanimously denied former board member Steven Holzman’s request for payback of more than $3,000 in unpaid legal fees for his deposition in the wrongful termination suit by Lisa Bright, a former CRA director.
If Holzman doesn’t get reimbursed, he plans to sue the CRA for “bad faith denial.
Although the CRA has legal counsel available for board members, Holzman said that he was not represented by the CRA lawyer because of an “inherent conflict of interest.”
At the meeting, CRA Chairman Jerry Taylor said: “We do not intend to reimburse this cost, he had an attorney, but he chose to bring his own.”
