The honeymoon is over.
At a Delray Beach City Commission meeting Tuesday, accusations flew after city officials in a 3-2 vote blocked the nomination of former Mayor Woody McDuffie to the Community Redevelopment Agency board.
The battle was divided among seniority lines, with commissioners who are serving their last term pitted against those who took office in March.
“I had a qualified person who meets all the requirements to be appointed to the CRA board,” said Commissioner Adam Frankel, who nominated McDuffie for the post. “For a majority of the commission to block the appointment and only be able to cite a rule that applies to Palm Beach County and not our city is very suspect.”
Palm Beach County requires that elected officials wait two years before applying for volunteer boards or registering as lobbyists. But Delray Beach lacks such a rule.
