Downtown site brings strong response for Boynton Beach farmers market settling in at new site
BOYNTON BEACH —With the summer approaching, the managers of a fledgling farmers market have high hopes — especially now that they’ve moved from a vacant lot along busy Federal Highway to an intimate city park.
“They love the location. It’s very convenient,” Kathy Biscuiti, special events director for the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency, said this week.
The market opened in May 2012 on CRA-owned land at the southeast corner of Boynton Beach Boulevard and Federal Highway. At first it boasted 25 to 30 vendors and a solid flow of patrons. But it suffered from limited word of mouth and a spate of bad weather in December and January. By February, organizers were considering shutting down.
