Sunrise to talk redevelopment at Tuesday workshop
The meeting will be at City Hall, 10770 W. Oakland Park Blvd.
Last week, commissioners approved a new incentive program that aims to lure investors to Sunrise by waiving up to 85 percent of prior outstanding liens upon compliance — with the opportunity to have the last 15 percent of the liens forgiven.
Investors also could be reimbursed up to 75 percent of the costs of building permit fees for qualifying commercial and multi-family properties.
“This incentive program is the first step in a multi-phase approach aimed at improving the vitality of our neighborhoods and business centers, including the original heart of the city,” said Mayor Mike Ryan. “It will support the city’s overall economic development goals of creating jobs, attracting capital investment, increasing commercial sales activity and lessening the tax burden of residents.”
