NEW SMYRNA BEACH — City leaders Tuesday listened to two development proposals for a waterfront site on the North Causeway, but decided not to consider a third for a 200-unit condominium project because it didn’t meet a deadline.
Anthony DiMucci, president of DiMucci Companies in Port Orange, sent a letter to New Smyrna Beach officials Monday offering to buy the property at 160 N. Causeway for $3.5 million in an “all cash purchase” to build the condominiums along with associated docks and slips for a “related marina amenity.”
However, New Smyrna Beach officials had set an April 2 deadline to accept development proposals for site, which is more than 4 acres.
“I think, for the integrity of the process, we might want to respond, ‘Thank you very much, but we’re in the process and you didn’t join in,’ ” City Attorney Frank Gummey told commissioners.
